Yesterday, I watched the animation “The Reward”, and it couldn’t really have came at a better time for me
I’ve been working for a week solid on an animated scene for a friend’s university film whilst also juggling my own coursework alongside it. With the combination of workloads, it really had sucked out all of the fun I found in animating and the vigor I went into the projects with and found myself more and more easily side-tracked each day
While I was procrastinating from working any further yesterday, I came across “The Reward” and, without any spoilers, this is genuinely the best thing I’ve ever seen online, a true epic in every sense of the word
After watching it umpteen times, it really spurred me back into action with the enthusiasm I was severely missing, knowing that although my work may right now be sub-par to such masterpieces, one day I could hope to create something as awe-inspiring as this.
This image was a warm-up I done in Flash of one of The Reward’s characters, something a bit outside my own style, especially the shading which helped me to appreciate Flash’s paint-select+paintbucket combo
Considering it was from memory too, I’m happy with it
If you haven’t seen the animation, watch it here;
